Giving it a Go
I have been in aww of Jessica Watson and her achievement of sailing around the world solo at the age of 16. This has got me thinking as to what else are the youth of today up to. I have stumbled upon this video. If you have a few minutes to spare have a listen.
My point from this is that their personal achievements to get up and give it a go, in what they are passionate about are to be highly commended.
- How I apply this to my life is asking myself what is it that I want to do (dream of) that I have not yet done? This could be from fear of failure, fear of offending someone, or one of many things.
What I have chosen to do is acknowledge this fear, come up with a strategy to make my dream a reality and give it a go.
- If these kids can get up and play like that and Jessica Watson can sail around the world at 16, I know I can give it a go. The only thing stopping me is me!
I will leave this with what is it that you dream of and have not yet done? What or who is stopping you?
Communication Needs - Feedback
Feedback Is Important For Good Communication.
Part of our Communication Needs is feedback. Feedback indicates how well your message is being understood; it helps to sort out communication problems and is vital for developing and maintaining business and personal relationships. In fact, it is one of the most important parts of the communication process
Any reply to a message is ‘feedback’. You ask the time, someone says “5.20pm” (receiver’s feedback) and you say “Thanks” (your feedback). Feedback can be classified in different ways. It can be:
- verbal or non-verbal;
- positive or negative;
- process or action;
- a combination of any of these.
As a coach I suggest you take note of what feedback you give in different situations and consider whether the feedback you give is meeting the communication needs of the person you are talking to.
Warm Regards

A good thing or bad thing?
What do you think?
Defeat may be a stepping stone or a stumbling block according to the way you accept it.
After an accident left me paraplegic I had a choice to get on with my life despite the challenges or wallow in self pity. I chose to focus on what was good and what I could do. I have gone from strength to strength and my life has got better and better. When I talk to groups in my capacity as an Inspirational Speaker, people regularly feed back to me that I do more than a lot of others. I am truly happy despite challenges most can’t imagine.
I constantly see people who are physically fit and healthy yet I believe more disabled than me due to the way they think and what they believe.
Do you believe in yourself as much as you need to have the best life possible? If you don’t then what will you do about it starting today? If you do then how do you pass that ability on to others and help them improve their lives? Let me know by posting a comment below.

Building Success Through Your Character
Your personal character has the greatest impact on your success, because once again, you are your business. At Confident Future we believe that when a business is not doing well, look to the key people and help them ‘fix’ their lives. Then, and only then, will the business thrive.
Your character also helps define your attitude toward success. You have been defining your character all your life and your vision of success has probably changed as your character has changed.
Think about what success was to you when you were in primary school. Maybe it was getting good marks, being accepted by friends and being a great athlete. Or, it might have been to be like your parents, having a good paying job and being happily married with a family.
What was your vision of success when you were college age, or upon graduation? You probably had many plans for how you were going to make a success of your life. Perhaps you were going to find the job for which your education prepared you and start at a high salary level. Then you’d get married and buy a house; everything in the right order and going to plan.
After you’d been in the working world for a while, perhaps your idea of success changed to wanting to be at the top of your game, to perform well in whatever field you had chosen. Or, perhaps you were feeling out of control of your life and your idea of success had changed to getting back in control. This is where a Coach can help.
No matter what the definition of success is to you since your success comes down to your character you need to consider your character when you consider your success. And, you need to continuously build your character in order to continue on your Journey of Success.
It’s easy. . .
Building your character means overcoming your fears, getting perspective and talking things out. Fear will always be there, you just have to get used to them and learn how to work around them. If you focus on fear, it can overwhelm you. When you are overwhelmed with fear, your character is weak. You will soon find that to build your character, you must face your fears and put them into perspective.

Building Success Through Balance
To build success, In addition to building your character you must develop yourself physically, mentally, spiritually, financially and socially. These five areas speak directly about WHO you are and your character. When any of these five areas becomes out of balance, your character becomes out of balance. For example, maybe you love to exercise but, as you get busy, you let exercise slide and you begin to feel worn down. This gets you out of balance physically.
If you are not dealing with your fears, you are out of balance mentally.
Being out of balance spiritually could be as simple as not looking at success from anything but a money perspective.
Being out of balance financially can happen to anyone and we should know how to get back in balance.
Being out of balance socially means that you have forgotten that you have family and friends, and have not kept them informed of what you are doing with your business or perhaps with your life. It may also mean that you’ve become disconnected from the social side of your business.
However you think you may be out of balance there will be ways to restore balance to your life. Working with a coach will assist you in clarifying this. You can down load unit one of “Life Management - Knowing what you want”, simply cut this address below and paste it after our home page URL: /coaching/self-improvement-units/life-management-coaching/life-management-unit-1

Steps To A Healthy Self-Image
Why do angels fly?
Because they take themselves lightly.
“It’s time to take an inventory of who you are, making sure you don’t sell yourself short. No one can make you feel inferior without your permission.
Did you take that point in? I’ll say it again because I want you to understand and remember it.
No one can make you feel inferior without your permission.
There are many reasons why you should like yourself just the way you are. Common sense demands it! Try this scenario. Would you swap your eyesight for $100,000? Or your legs for $1,000,000? Would you swap your good health with a person with poor health for $100,000? Take a moment now. Look down at your legs; feel the strength of your back; how great is your vision and what sounds do you hear all around with those great ears of yours? What are these things worth? One billion dollars? More/less? Fortunately you don’t have to swap one asset (health) for another (money). There is another, far less costly road to complete wealth. If you allow yourself to learn and build on
the foundations of character, faith, integrity, love, loyalty and honesty, you can have them all! Health, wealth, happiness, peace, friends, security and the rest.
Remember, you are one in a billion! UNIQUE ! Just like a painting by Picasso or Rembrandt, you are a rare, exclusive and different individual. Your qualities give you enormous value.
Think about the following story. If you had the only car in town you’d have a very valuable possession - unless you leave it parked in the garage! Now, you are the only one of your type in town, the only one in existence. So, take you and your talent and use it!
If you are struggling to feel good about yourself, feeling a little jaded, then try a quick and easy make-over, a bit of spit and polish. When you make up and dress up, you look up. Research has clearly shown that how we look has a definite bearing on the way we feel. The first step to a new, improved you could be as simple as a haircut, a new shirt or a facial.
Build a healthy self-image with a series of short steps.
One reason many people never attempt new things is FEAR OF FAILURE.
Start in a small way, build confidence and transfer one area of success to another. Athletes see themselves clearing the bar, breaking a time barrier. This visualisation is used by top performers the world over, but it is something we can all do. See yourself winning! Self-image improves performance, which improves self-image, which improves performance, which . . . . . which leads to success.
Do you get the picture?
Learn from the ’successful failures’ of others.
Thomas Edison’s teacher called him a dunce. He failed over 14,000 times to perfect the incandescent light. However, he didn’t see himself as a failure. According to Edison, he found 14,000 ways that did not work!
Albert Einstein failed courses in maths.
Henry Ford was broke at 40.
Walt Disney went broke seven times and had a nervous breakdown before success came.
These people succeeded because they persevered.
So to improve our lives we don’t have to re-invent the wheel. People have been feeling good about themselves and leading very successful lives for thousands of years. We may all be unique, but there are certain philosophies and tried and true methods that work for us all.”
Find what works for you and make a time in your diary to do it, not later, not when you see if you can fit it in but right NOW!
Give it a go and be all you truly are.
